Recently, we received the very sad news that Michael Eaton has died in South Africa, aged 74, following a heart attack. Please pray for his wife Jenny and their family.
Michael’s books, and particularly the Preaching Through the Bible series, are amongst the most frequently requested by pastors worldwide. His passion was preaching profound and relevant truth in a straightforward and understandable way. Everything he wrote was underpinned by rigorous study of Biblical texts in their original languages.
His preaching and writing were always fresh, anointed, encouraging, motivating and full of grace and truth.
Among his most outstanding contributions are his expositions of Romans and Galatians in which he encourages his readers and hearers to live a Godly life, free from destructive legalism that encourages criticism and guilt. One of his favourite themes was that of salvation by faith alone with reward and inheritance for faithful service.
He is now in the presence of the One whom he served faithfully since his conversion to Christ as a schoolboy. Having laboured for some sixty years he has now entered his rest. We thank God for him. His rich legacy will bless many generations to come.
