A consignment of 1,300 Preaching Through the Bible titles is now on its way to South Africa by air. The books will be distributed to visiting pastors from the poorer nations to the north – Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Zambia - by our longstanding partner Grant Neuper.
Many of these visitors pass through Cape Town, and so Grant is well placed to meet them. Passing books by-hand means that they can be reliably placed in the hands of leaders who need these books. The Trust still has significant quantities of the individual volumes which provide an excellent introduction to the series.
God has helped us greatly with the arrangements for this consignment. The late Michael Eaton’s son Calvin is now one of our trustees and has strong connections with South African churches. It was his discussions with Grant that initiated this despatch. Freight costs are one of the challenges in this type of situation, but Michael’s daughter Tina who works for Swiss Air, negotiated a generous discount for her airline to fly the books from the UK. This is obviously much quicker than sending them as part of a container or by conventional courier. The collection costs were met by the recipients.
So, all we had to do was pick and pack the books. This means more books, speedier and cheaper! God is good.
We are delighted to be working with the Eaton family, to see Michael’s teaching legacy continue to bless the nations, and to reconnect with Grant as his distribution hub continues to feed hungry leaders. We will pick up on this story in the weeks to come.
