Floods southern India

Another challenging year for our recipients

Evangelical Library, Colombo, Sri Lanka

It has taken a little time to go through our Christmas mailbox, as our pastor and ministry recipients confirm receipt of their Covid-delayed 2021 book mailings. Messages of acknowledgement have been coming in from the four corners of the globe, with news of another challenging year for so many.

It is often hard to comprehend the circumstances under which some of our recipients live and work, and this was brought into sharp focus by a message from Mrs Ross of Living Waters Rural Evangelism in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Mrs Ross wrote to thank us for sending our 2021 selection of teaching and preaching titles which somewhat miraculously arrived safely. Miraculously, because in November southern India was battered by weeks of heavy rain with a number killed and injured. Andhra Pradesh was particularly badly affected as flash floods destroyed property and caused untold hardship for the people of the region.

As Mrs Ross reports, some villages were virtually demolished or isolated, with flood water and damage blocking access to food and water. As you can see from the photo she sent to us, the floods could be devastating for some.

Mrs Ross has asked for our prayers for the victims of the floods, especially the poor and hungry.
