Global Book Shipments Update

A summer of mission & evangelism

We’re always encouraged to hear from Bishop Enock, one of our faithful recipients on the ground in Malawi. His regular updates remind us of the vital, life-changing work being carried out in some of the country’s most remote and marginalised communities — and this summer has been no exception.

Throughout July and August, Bishop Enock and his dedicated team embarked on a series of mission trips, determined to bring the hope of the gospel to those often forgotten.

Taking God to the mountains

In July, the team faced one of their most challenging journeys yet, heading deep into Malawi’s mountainous regions. Some villages here are inaccessible by vehicle, forcing the team to complete part of the trip on foot — all while carrying heavy supplies, books, and materials.Evangelical Library, Colombo, Sri Lanka

But they were not alone. Local villagers, including children, came out in full support, helping carry the provisions the final miles.

Despite Malawi’s ongoing fuel crisis, the team managed to keep moving — often queuing to secure enough fuel for their vehicle and generator.

In each village they visited, the hunger for God’s Word was unmistakable. Villagers often asked the team to stay longer so they could continue learning and growing in faith. On this trip, a large number of children also gave their lives to Christ — a powerful testament to the impact of the mission.

However, the team also encountered familiar challenges: many adults, particularly the elderly, are unable to read or write. For others, poor eyesight prevents them from reading, even if they are literate. In response, reading glasses were distributed, and in one village, a local man stepped forward to volunteer as a literacy teacher — a spark of hope for future transformation.

Each village was gifted two Bibles in Chichewa, Malawi’s national language, while local pastors received teaching and discipleship materials tailored for new believers in their communities. Handwashing equipment was also supplied.

August: Reaching Across Divides

Barely back from their July trip, the team hit the road again in August — this time to regions where Christian and Muslim communities live side-by-side. Though these areas can sometimes be challenging to navigate spiritually and culturally, God’s presence was deeply felt.

In just 11 villages, 264 individuals made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus. It was an extraordinary outpouring of faith and a clear sign that God is at work in every corner of Malawi.

Please continue to pray for Bishop Enock and his team as they press on with boldness and compassion. Their faithfulness, despite obstacles, is an inspiring example of what it means to carry the Good News to the ends of the earth.
