As we continue to send much needed teaching books to our recipients worldwide, our mailings team give an update on their progress in 2023.

Our library and pastor mailings have progressed well year-to-date, with plenty of positive responses on book selections.

We are getting plenty of great feedback, particularly from recipients in India at this time. However, we are still experiencing problems with the reliability of deliveries or excessive cargo surcharges in certain locations in Africa. We are being particularly cautious about sending precious books to particular regions, instead concentrating on those areas where we know there are no issues. 

Those pastors affected by the cargo challenges and surcharges are, wherever possible, being directed to access our digital resources. We appreciate that this is not ideal for some recipients but we continue to take advice from our courier and in-country sources. Distribution by partners in-country has proved particularly helpful in this respect. 

In addition to the large-scale Uganda distribution by Richard Smart and his network of contacts, we are often asked to help with other special requests for books. In many cases, these need to be specifically tailored to their prospective audiences. 

On this very subject, some 200 books were recently collected by Leadership Development Partnership for delivery to Rwanda where they are establishing Christian libraries. Meanwhile, we were able to send a recently retired Anglican minister’s personal library of relevant titles to a Bible college in Tanzania. 

Ongoing, we continue to fulfil requests from regular recipients for small collections of pre-loved books for their church libraries.
