On the road again, Uganda

Richard Smart going beyond

Supporters of the Trust will remember Richard Smart from previous news stories, and he has been back on the road in Uganda once again preaching, teaching and putting valuable Christian resources directly into the hands of pastors and others who can make good use of them. But his mission is about so much more, it's also about helping local people with their livelihoods, and its about promoting a culture of responsibility and accountability.

Richard has travelled to Uganda for many years and has first-hand experience of the challenges faced by pastors working with very limited resources.

Whenever he makes the journey, he takes books with him, while the Trust has also arranged for further supplies to be shipped to Uganda so that they can be used during his missions.

The photographs capture just a glimpse of this work, showing people receiving some of the books and teaching materials Richard has taken with him. Among them are resources on Christian marriage, family life and the gospel, practical materials intended to encourage, equip and strengthen those serving their communities. 

But Richard's work goes beyond preaching and distributing books. A key part of his ministry is helping people become more self-sustaining, working alongside Ugandan pastors to deepen their understanding of God's Word, while fostering a culture of ownership and integrity. 

His professional experience in accountancy provides another valuable dimension to this work. Richard uses his knowledge of business and management to help pastors develop the practical skills needed to oversee projects capable of generating income for local people. 

In this way, each visit brings together Christian teaching, practical training and much-needed resources, helping equip local leaders not only for their ministry today, but also to build stronger and more sustainable communities for the future.
