Persecution and perseverance

A reminder, if one was needed, that many Christians across the world continue to face persecution and hardship.

We recently heard from one of our long-term recipients, Brother Joseph from Myanmar, who has given us permission to share his news.

Over the last few years, areas of the country have seen civil conflict and displacement. This has had a devastating impact on the people. Pastor Joseph tells of the persecution of his Bible college, with students having stones thrown at them. Even the college sign (pictured below) was damaged by the stoning. The college was forced to close for some time.

Brother Joseph takes up the story:

“In the midst of a terrible civil war, over 35,000 people fled away from my city. But the Lord has been with us and He has been so good. Thankfully, we have been able to re-open our Bible college though His leading. We could not imagine nor dream that we were able to re-open it, because the situation of civil war shook our city and district.”

Brother Joseph shared how he once had a great vision for his mission but lacked the resources to make it happen. For many years he prayed and stayed true to this vision. His particular calling is to rescue and educate the children of Myanmar in Biblical truth, preparing them to know God and share their faith.

Through prayer and his own unwavering faith, Brother Joseph has slowly turned his vision into reality. And, despite the challenges of recent years, he is now able to continue his teaching within his church family and at the Bible college. Indeed, he feels that he can now do this with a renewed strength and purpose.
