We were recently delighted to reconnect with one of our long-standing recipients in the Philippines, Rev Benedicto, whose ministry we have supported for many years.
Rev Benedicto pastors a Pentecostal Evangelical church located in a particularly unique setting: a former American Naval Base. This area has become a highly urbanised community, home to people from many different regions of the Philippines. As a result, the congregation reflects a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, with many residents living transient lives.
Now in its 43rd year, the church continues to thrive and has grown to include several satellite churches serving different parts of the community. Alongside the local church, the ministry also runs a Bible College training centre for ministers, equipping believers for pastoral leadership and Christian service.
In addition to his role as pastor, Rev Benedicto is a College and Seminary Professor, travelling regularly to four different locations to train and mentor young people as they pursue their calling.
Sovereign World Trust had been supplying theological books and study materials to this ministry since 1989. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, this supply was sadly interrupted, and contact was temporarily lost. We are thankful that communication has now been restored and that this valued partnership has resumed.
Rev Benedicto was originally introduced to the Trust through an American missionary who connected him with our ministry many years ago.
Reflecting on that relationship, he shared: “From that time on, you became a source of blessings for the materials I am using in my preaching and teaching.â€
We are thrilled to serve this vibrant church and training centre once again, and were pleased to recently send a box of carefully selected books, supporting both pastoral ministry and theological education.
It is a joy to see how these resources continue to strengthen leaders, students, and congregations, and we look forward to supporting this ministry for many years to come.
