Growing an inner city Church

This month we received news and photos from one of our pastor recipients in Kampala, Uganda. Pastor Lubega sent thanks to the Trust, and most notably our supporters, from he and his congregation of the Jesus Christ Restoration Church: “…we appreciate so much the material you have been freely sending to us - you have enriched our library, and you have enriched us with knowledge.”

Pastor Lubega is an Associate Pastor at Jesus Christ Restoration Church. He is married to Justine and they have four children; they are soon to celebrate ten years of marriage. His Senior Pastor is Betty Sarah Anyango Balaza. The church is located in Kabowa, Lubaga Division, Kampala and has a membership of about 20 Christians. They are renting a room in a school and meet every Sunday.

Pastor Lubega’s wife, Justine, and a colleague, Rebecca, head up the children’s Sunday School, while he runs a teaching ministry called JIOSAL(Jesus Is Our Saviour & Lord). Bible study and discipleship classes are held every Saturday

Pastor Lubega tells us how the books are benefitting him personally and his ministry: “Your books have really helped me; you see I am a Bible teacher and an associate pastor, however my primary goal is... to learn Christ my Lord and learn how to live in His kingdom When I read various writers’ revelations and their approach to the scriptures, I come out with an interpretation which is better, sometimes or many times which differ from what I have been taught before. For example, when you sent me Journey Through the Bible by Hugh Hill and after reading “a tale of three men”, I knew why Diotrephes was behaving badly…It’s very important to understand these stories through those who have researched the bible by the Holy Spirit.  In summary, the sharing of the brethren through their writings has given me a better understanding of spirituality, hence helping my audience with the same. Friends thank you so much for this material. I am empowered.”

With thanks to Pastor Lubega for the photos of his congregation (top left); Pastor Lubega with some of the books we have sent (bottom left); Sunday School, Kampala (below right).
