A slightly unusual message reached us in February. Books that we sent in 2018 - 2019 to a small church in Nigeria were finally delivered this year. While we are used to hearing about slightly delayed post for some of our more remote destinations, this is definitely a record late delivery.
A rather perplexed Reverend Abaros, from ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All) tells us that the delivery was a bit of a surprise. He received no explanation for the delay but he thanks God that he got them eventually :).
“Thank you very much for this labour of love,” he writes. “It is my sincere prayer that the good Lord will reward Sovereign World Trust Team and all the donors.”
Rev Abaros explains how the books have been a blessing to him and his colleagues since their arrival:
“They have helped me in no small ways. They have supported me in my teaching of the Word and in preaching. There are also times I have had to make reference to them when handling difficult issues.”The books are of great help to me and my ministry. I use them to equip myself for effective ministry, while some of my colleagues also read them to help with their own ministries.”
The ECWA church building is located in the suburb of Benin City with an average congregation of about 55, including children. It is a church, which like so many, is struggling for resources, so the books were a welcome blessing albeit a slightly unexpected one. As you can see from their sign, the church continues to push forward in their ministry despite the challenges that they face. And, at a time when we are finding it difficult to send any books to our recipients, it was heartening to hear of one welcome and safe delivery at least..
