Reaching out to the disadvantaged, Uganda

For some of our longstanding recipients, their mission not only includes evangelistic outreach and teaching, but also much needed practical support.

This is particularly true of the ABA Foundation in Uganda which undertakes free surgical and medical camps and healthcare education alongside its Christian preaching and teaching as part of its collaborative gospel mission.

Led by Bishop Dr Joseph Kiyimba, the ABA Foundation is dedicated to evangelism, offering training to local pastors and church leaders on all aspects of church life. The goal is to strengthen and equip God’s people with the word of God and encourage their involvement in evangelism by providing Bible courses and literature, media, leadership training, socio-economic development and intercessory prayer. However, alongside this work, the Foundation is also committed to saving lives and improving healthcare by providing free medical care for those in need in under-served communities, and teaching and training for local doctors and nurses on modern aspects of patient care and treatment.

There is a particular focus on helping orphans, widows and widowers, disabled people, the disadvantaged and outcasts.

As part of their ministering to churches, Bible colleges, orphanages, homes for the elderly and disabled, ABA harnesses the skills and experience of volunteers from overseas (some of which are pictured below); from preachers to doctors and medical students, to health workers, missionaries and non-medical Christian volunteers.

The regular organised mission outreaches organised by the ABA Foundation include preaching the gospel, while offering treatment to adults and children in deprived areas, often encountering those with complex surgical needs. The medical and mission teams also provide supplies to the vulnerable and destitute.

In addition, ABA Foundation friends and well-wishers from overseas have donated equipment to upgrade operating rooms, recovery rooms and other areas of patient service at hospitals in Uganda.
