Messages from Harare

Annie Makoni, who is originally from Kent, is one of our longstanding recipients, collecting books from the Trust on her visits to the UK and taking these back to her home church in Harare.

Annie’s church is called One Church and it’s located in one of the poorest suburbs of the city, where there is great physical and spiritual need

On her most recent visit, Annie took back a number of illustrated Good News Bibles for the young people who meet as part of One Church’s youth outreach.

“We have been so blessed by the books and Bibles we have received from Sovereign World Trust,” Annie tells us. “It would be really good, I think, if your supporters were aware of how their giving is impacting people all over the world.”

Annie has been able to share messages of thanks from some of the young people an audio recording:

And here are just some of the messages we have lifted from the recording:

“Thank you for the Bibles that we have received from you guys. We are now learning how to read the word of God with our friends. May God bless you.”

“Thank you that we now have something to read and know what is the word of God.”

“Thank you so much, we use the Bibles every time we meet and the guys are really enjoying them, especially the pictures in them. We are sending you lots of love from Zimbabwe.”

In a local community where people have so little, and where they are not necessarily comfortable in being photographed or recorded, we are so grateful to Annie and the young people for illustrating how much the gift of the Bibles means to them.
